LIFFE
LIFFE stands for London International Financial Futures Exchange.
LIFFE offers financial trading through a variety of derivative securities that includes options and futures on interest rates, agricultural commodity contracts, and equity options.
The London International Financial Futures Exchange initiated in 1982 to take advantage of the removing of the United Kingdom currency controls in 1979. In the year 2000, LIFFE transferred all of its contracts electronically, onto a platform called the LIFFE CONNECT. LIFFE was taken over by Euronext in 2002, and since 2007 became Euronext’s merger with New York Stock Exchange in 2007.
