BaFin
BaFin, or more formerly known as The Federal Financial Supervisory Authority, is the financial regulatory authority of Germany. It is a federal and independent institution that is supervised by the Federal Ministry of Finance of Germany. BaFin currently supervises 800 financial services institutions, 2,700 German banks, and more than 700 insurance undertakings. The main role of BaFin is to supervise insurance companies, supervise banks, the trading of securities, and is responsible for the integrity, stability and viability of the German financial system. BaFin or The Federal Financial Supervisory Authority, was initiated in 2002 along with the Financial Services and integration Act in order to integrate one financial regulator that supervises and covers all German financial markets.
